
Suez Canal University inaugurated the activities of the second scientific conference of Arabic Language and Translation Studies Center, which is held in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Narrative Studies, under the title “Applied Linguistics… Prospects and Challenges”, with the participation of an elite group of professors and researchers specialized in the field of applied linguistics.
Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, commented on the conference, stressing that the university pays great attention to scientific research in the fields of language and translation, as they are among the basic pillars of knowledge and communication between peoples.
added that the conference represents an opportunity to enhance applied linguistic studies and benefit from recent developments in artificial intelligence and Arabization, which contributes to developing academic research and linking it to the requirements of contemporary linguistic reality.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Naeem, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, pointed out the importance of holding this conference in light of the rapid developments in the field of applied linguistics, explaining that the participation of students from the departments of languages and translation from various faculties reflects the university’s interest in enriching students’ knowledge and refining their research skills in this vital field.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, stressed that the conference comes within the framework of the university’s support for scientific research and encouragement of specialized studies in applied linguistics, noting that the research sessions will address various topics, including linguistic planning, artificial intelligence, contrastive linguistics, linguistic and neuro-linguistic programming, and forensic phonetics, in addition to studying international and linguistic standards and the impact of Arabization on linguistic reality. Dr. Sayed Obeid, Conference Chairman and Director of the Center for Arabic Language Studies and Translation, praised the research efforts presented during the conference, which reflect the extent of development witnessed by the field of applied linguistics. explained that the conference witnessed the participation of 30 researchers, who presented 12 scientific research papers, which reflects the great research momentum enjoyed by this field. The conference was held under the general supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Naeem, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, while the conference was chaired by Dr. Sayed Obeid, Director of the Center for Arabic Language Studies, and Dr. Abdel-Hafiz Hassan, President of the Narrative Studies Association, and the conference secretariat was held by Dr. Hassanein Al-Saeed and Dr. Ahmed Gamal El-Din El-Qadi.
