Suez Canal University continued its rise in the global rankings, achieving a distinguished position among the top 200 universities in the world in the field of interdisciplinary sciences, where it came in 125th place, according to the British Times ranking for the year 2025.
The university also ranked sixth locally among 27 Egyptian universities, and among 749 universities from 92 countries around the world, highlighting its academic leadership and commitment to research excellence at the local and international levels.
The British Times ranking for interdisciplinary sciences for the year 2025 is the first of its kind in measuring the contributions of universities and their commitment to interdisciplinary sciences.
On this occasion, Prof.Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, expressed his sincere congratulations to the university family, appreciating the efforts of faculty members, researchers and students who contributed to achieving this achievement.
stressed that the university is continuing its journey to support scientific research and enhance its academic standing, to remain a role model, noting that this achievement is the culmination of a long journey of excellence and leadership, and confirms the position of Suez Canal University as one of the pillars of scientific research in the Canal region and Sinai.
Prof .Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that this classification is based on three main axes that cover all stages of scientific research, these axes include inputs such as funding, the process that includes success measures, facilities, and administrative support, in addition to outputs that focus on the quality of research publications, academic reputation, and scientific impact.
Prof .Dr. Mohamed Saad pointed out that the university seeks to increase interdisciplinary sciences that work to integrate knowledge between homogeneous disciplines in order to achieve comprehensive knowledge, and achieve integration between traditional disciplines and disciplines of an applied nature, which leads to the production of knowledge that improves the quality of the university’s outputs. In a related context, Dr. Sameh Saad, Director of the International Cooperation Office, explained that the classification identifies scientific disciplines according to the map guide, which includes the fields of physical sciences, life sciences, engineering, and computer science.
Dr. Ilham Al-Khawas, Director of the International Classification Unit, added that this classification was based on analyzing 157 million scientific citations from 18 million research publications, in addition to questionnaires in which more than 20,000 international researchers participated, which highlights the accuracy and transparency of the methodology followed.
