Under the executive supervision of Prof.Dr. Khaled El-Sayed, Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Director of the Suez Canal University Specialized Hospital, and Conference Chair, the Department of Neurosurgery organized its 28th annual conference entitled “Functional Brain Surgery: Reality and Hope.” The conference brought together a group of prominent figures in the specialty in Egypt.

The event witnessed a distinguished scientific presence, including Dr. Amgad Matar, Professor of Neurosurgery, former Dean of the Faculty, and Honorary Chairman of the Conference; Dr. Tarek El-Imam, Conference Director; and Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Conference Rapporteur. The program began with the national anthem and a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. This was followed by the official platform speeches delivered by Dr. Khaled El-Sayed, the conference president, who welcomed the university guests and emphasized the importance of academic and research cooperation in developing surgical performance. Dr. Amjad Matar then expressed his pride in participating in this major scientific forum. Dr. Tarek El-Imam emphasized the conference’s importance and role in enriching academic discussion.

The speeches concluded with a speech by Dr. Ahmed Anwar Abdel-Ghani, who thanked and appreciated the work team and praised Dr. Khaled El-Sayed’s efforts in developing the specialized university hospital and its inclusion within the comprehensive health insurance system.

In a gesture of loyalty and gratitude, the conference honored a group of prominent figures in neurosurgery in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the specialty. These included Dr. Ali Abu Madawi, Dr. Nader El-Sayed Najm, Dr. Amjad Matar, Dr. Nabil Hassan, the former head of the department, In honor of his memory of Dr. Medhat Mustafa, and Dr. Mohamed El-Motafi.
