Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, explained that the QS classification is one of the strongest international classifications in terms of the comprehensiveness of its standards in evaluating universities in various fields, noting that the British QS classification organization announced on the evening of 4 June, 2024, the results of the world classification of universities for the year 2025. .

The university president added that the QS World University Classification this year is the largest compared to previous years, as this year’s classification included 1,503 universities from 106 countries, an increase of 21 new universities classified compared to last year.

The indicators of the British QS University Evaluation Classification 2025 showed that Suez Canal University ranked eighth among 15 Egyptian universities that were listed this year.

It is ranked (1201-1400) globally in 2025 for the fourth year in a row.

  • • The university president explained that universities are evaluated according to major criteria, including citations for each faculty member (20%), in which Suez Canal University ranked fifth among 15 Egyptian universities, compared to the sixth ranking last year. The criterion for the ratio of faculty members to students is (10%), in which the university ranked sixth in Egypt. This is followed by an assessment of international cooperation (5%), which includes the ratio of foreign faculty members to Egyptians at the university, and the ratio of foreign students to Egyptian students (5%).

The percentage of international research cooperation among universities is evaluated (5%), and Suez Canal University ranked tenth in Egypt.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, indicated that the remarkable distinction of Suez Canal University in international cooperation is due to the increase in international publishing rates among faculty members and researchers, as research with international cooperation represented 67.6% of the total published research. The contribution of published research in the disciplines of life sciences and medical sciences was the largest in this cooperation, followed by the disciplines of engineering sciences and natural sciences.

  • • The Vice President of the University added that Suez Canal University ranked 651-700 in the field of medicine this year in the 2025 QS Academic Subjects Classification.

Also in this classification, the sustainability standard within universities is evaluated at (5%), which evaluates the social and environmental impact of universities as a center for education and research. Suez Canal University ranked 700th globally and fifth in Egypt among 15 universities, compared to 12th place last year. Suez Canal University is one of the universities with a strong social and environmental impact in the Suez Canal and Sinai region through many medical, veterinary and social convoys and many workshops that serve citizens and work to solve the environmental problems they face.

  • • Dr. Sameh Saad, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, added that the university’s academic reputation is evaluated by (30%) by surveying the opinions of academic experts, as the opinions of experts were collected regarding the quality of teaching and scientific research in universities around the world. This is followed by community reputation (20%), and employers around the world were cited as receiving the most qualified, innovative and effective graduates.
  • • Dr. Elham Al-Khawas, Director of the Classification Unit at the International Cooperation Office, explained that the inclusion of Suez Canal University in the international classifications is the result of the university administration’s efforts to enhance scientific research in terms of quality and performance while supporting researchers in various fields. And also, for the efforts of Suez Canal University in developing supportive policies to achieve the various standards that qualify it in international classifications in various sectors such as the student sector, the environment sector, and community service.
