Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University.
The College of Engineering is organizing a symposium on: “Manufacturing spare parts and raising the productivity of production lines” on Monday, May 13, in the video conference hall in the Student Activities Building.
Under the general supervision of Prof. Dr. Ihab Lotfy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Under the executive supervision of Prof. Dr. Abeer Al-Shahawi, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
The symposium was organized by Dr. Ahmed Salah El-Din Ali, the symposium rapporteur.
The symposium aims to achieve a set of objectives:
. Creating a dialogue in order to transfer expertise in this field between the consumer and manufacturer of spare parts and the university on the other hand.
. Identifying the needs of the spare parts consumer and the quantities and types of spare parts.
. Creating bridges of communication between the scientific body – which will help prepare the technical specifications for the spare part – and both the spare parts consumer and the spare parts manufacturer regarding how to receive the spare parts through tests or a testing program determined with the knowledge and approval of the three parties.
. Creating scientific cooperation between the consumer and the manufacturer on the one hand, and the scientific intermediary with experience in manufacturing on the other hand.
. Introducing the role of the university, especially the College of Engineering, in the case of technical assistance and diagnosing defects, as well as describing the condition of production lines.
. Identifying the obstacles that limit the development of this activity in Egypt.
. Requirements for manufacturing spare parts and the availability of expertise that is proficient in creating technical specifications and design drawings for spare parts.
. Creating an industrial directory detailing the quality and capacity of machines available in Egypt, as well as their locations.
. Providing technical workers trained to operate machines and deal with modern technology.
. Providing quality technical personnel, how to prepare sketches for spare parts, and determining the condition of surfaces as well as surface treatment.
The symposium also discusses establishing training centers to learn such topics, as well as introducing special programs for engineers in Egyptian universities, in addition to establishing technical offices or units for manufacturing spare parts.
