Conclusion of the tripartite cooperation program between the Suez Canal University, the Japan International Cooperation Authority (JICA) and the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development – the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Which was held at the College of Medicine headquarters from November 26 to December 20, 2023.
The sixth training program was entitled:
Integrated management of maternal and newborn health
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, and the general supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research.
The “University President” explained that the program invites nine health care workers, including doctors, nurses, and laboratory technicians, from the following African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, and Ghana, to train at the College of Medicine on modern methods to improve maternal health before and after childbirth.
The closing ceremony of the program was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Profe. Dr. Ahmed Al-Sakka, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Mr. Shino Masao, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Authority (JICA), and Dr. Omar Fathi, Director of the Tripartite Cooperation Program, and elite from faculty members.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, Vice President of the University, indicated that the program aims to provide proper nutrition for mothers and newborns, diagnose and prevent common diseases during pregnancy and after birth, and encourage breastfeeding.
Through the program’s activities, the trainees also formulate a work plan to implement it in the hospitals and health institutes where they work when they return to their country and transfer the skills they have learned to their colleagues.
